Sigma Orionis is involved in a EU/FP7 support action aiming at catalysing interdisciplinary collaborations and organising consultations of multidisciplinary research communities on the theme of Social Collective Intelligence: the SOCIAL-IST project, launched in October 2012, is now in its final phase!
The SOCIAL-IST final conference will take place on October 3, 2013 at the Scotland House Conference Centre in Brussels. The White Paper on Research Challenges in Social Collective Intelligence and the Roadmap for FET Initiatives in Social Collective Intelligence will be presented during the event, which will also be an occasion to promote an open dialogue on how a new form of ICT can help building a smarter society. The White Paper includes the identification and description of key research challenges that will be faced within the next decade by researchers willing to design and experiment with Social Collective Intelligence Systems. The Roadmap includes a number of recommendations for the European Commission in terms of timing, priorities and potential instruments for bringing forward in a coherent way the topics identified in the White Paper, thus maximizing their impacts on science, society and economy.
The SOCIAL-IST final conference will bring together more than 20 speakers, who will debate with the public scientific challenges brought forward by Social Collective Intelligence, its impact on various application domains and the community support needed to foster its development.
