The Regional EU-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument, or READI, is a four-year initiative of the European Union launched in 2011 to support policy dialogues with ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Since 2011, Karine Valin, Managing Director of Sigma Orionis, has been contributing, as the “Key Expert for ICT”, to the work of the core READI team, in close liaison with the European Commission and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Sigma Orionis is happy to continue strongly supporting ICT cooperation between the EU and ASEAN, building on the successful FP6 and FP7 projects Sigma Orionis has coordinated over the period 2004-2011 (among which SEACOOP).
READI has the objective to present policy options and assist in building the foundations for ASEAN community in non-trade areas by sharing knowledge and experience between the regulatory systems of EU and ASEAN and establishing greater transparency and understanding between the two regions. READI activities may also support the ASEAN in drafting its policy papers, defining its targeted results, and elaborating its workplans. ICT is among the policy areas identified for immediate support, with a specific focus on spectrum management and broadband deployment.
